JOE DAHUT
Joe Dahut is a poet and essayist living and writing in
the Florida Keys. He earned his master’s in poetry from
New York University, where he taught creative writing.
Prior to that, he was a collegiate baseball pitcher at
Drew University and a flyfishing guide in Kodiak, AK.
Dahut’s prose and poetry have been published previously
in this title as well as The Drake, Clade Song, Saw
Palm, and Little Patuxent Review, among others.
DANIELLE DAVIS
Danielle Davis lives on Colorado’s Western Slope,
where she works in the sustainable agriculture industry
as a communications strategist and writes stories
for local food publications, such as Edible Aspen. She
founded the Western Meat Collective, a source of education
for home cooks who want to know the story behind
their food, both wild and farmed, and cook more
resourcefully. Davis grew up fishing with her dad on
the Western Slope’s healthy web of freestones and tailwaters.
Aside from fishing and writing about fishing,
she finds joy in rodeo photography, road trips with her
black lab and gathering people around tables.
MATT DUNN
Matt Dunn works at a brewery in western New York
just off Chautauqua Lake, and lives two miles down the
road with his wife, Jess, and their dog, Charlie. Before
that he was a fishing guide in northern Michigan on
the Pere Marquette and Manistee rivers. For most of
his 20s and early 30s he was a graduate student in biology
and then history and philosophy of science, where
he studied the conceptual foundations of population
genetics and the history of beer and brewing. Matt
was born and raised in Pennsylvania and still spends
as much time there as possible. He had a website called
Fishbeer.com, but has since added smoking meats to
his hobbies. He can now be found on Youtube and
Instagram @FishBeerBBQ.
HIROTO HAYASHI
Hiroto Hayashi is currently an outdoor recreation
instructor with the Three Rivers Park District in
Minnesota and is the Youth and Family Fishing
Program coordinator for Fishing For All, a fishing
guide and education company serving the Twin
Cities. He was born and raised in Brighton, CO, and
recently graduated from Black Hills State University
in Spearfish, SD, with a bachelor’s in English and
minors in professional writing and outdoor education.
His writing and photography have been included in
the Minnesota Trout Unlimited Newsletter, South
Dakota Master Naturalist Newsletter, and Black Hills
Visitor magazine.
DEREK JOHNSTON
Derek Johnston has been a professional artist for more
than 30 years. His fine art landscape photography is
in the collection of the Museum of Contemporary
Photography in Chicago and has been honored with
a Colorado Council on the Arts grant in visual arts.
Derek is currently a professor and director of professional
photography at Colorado Mountain College. He
has lived on the Frying Pan River outside of Basalt,
CO, for over 24 years and spends most of his free time
pursuing trout and wildlife in a variety of ways, but
mostly ones that involve a camera and lens.
